Newport Coast CA
Studied French at UC Berkeley. Got an M.A. in French at UCLA. Worked for a few
years, went back to school FT yet again and got MBA at USC. I've been in investor
relations and financial PR for the past 10 years, and have lived in the OC since
marrying my husband Jim in 1998. My last fulltime job was a VP of PR and IR
at Fleishman-Hillard in L.A. I'm now running two (unrelated) home-based businesses
- investor relations consulting and interior design. No kids, two French bulldogs.
My cello has been sitting around for 30 years now but I can't bring myself to
sell it. Jim works in the IT department at 24 Hour Fitness. We love living in
Newport, I work at home, he has an easy commute to Carlsbad, and the golf in
the OC is fabulous!! Let me know if you'd like to join us for a round!

San Jose CA After graduating from Samohi, I went on to West Point and spent several years in the Army jumping out of planes and becoming an Army Ranger. After the Army, I moved to the SF Bay Area where I pursued and to received my MBA. I currently live in Los Gatos with my Fiance my two kids (Emily 12, and Trevor 11), her three kids, a puppy and two cats. Needless to say we have a full house. Currently working at a medical device start-up as their operations officer. Who becomes a Tibetan Monk and then the managing Director of a Wall Street Software Company?? I got a kick out of that one. Hope to see you all at our 25? or is the next one the 30th?
I got a wildlife management degree from Humboldt (finally after 17 years)! Married 8 years, I have two little boys 3 (Evyn) and 5 (Myles), 2 dogs and 3 chickens and a goldfish. And I am a Fisheries Biologist on the Klamath River for California Dept of Fish and Game. My little and Big hooligans keep me pretty busy as do the fish on the river. Don't have too much time for dog sledding or music these days.
My wife Susan and I live in a small town 40 miles west of Boston. We have two boys, ages 3 and 5 and a girl 10 months. They keep us busy and happy. I design electronic devices for Panavision, an L.A. based company that makes movie cameras.
Didn't quite graduate from Samohi, but I still remember all
the words to the school song! I'm happily settled in Berkeley
with my partner, Selena Wells, and our cats. No kids yet, but
we have plans for them. Selena works in 3D animation, and I'm
a LAN Manager here at Wells Fargo. I'm interested in hearing from
other alums who have moved to the Bay Area, and also from other
gay alums, where ever you are now.

Chicago, IL 60615
After 20 years in the Northwest I moved to take a faculty position at the University of Chicago. I am a scientist and study neurobiology (which makes me pretty much a geek). I have a son, Dillon that is convinced that playing video games will lead to fabulous wealth and fame. I still keep in touch with some of my classmates on a regular basis- Frank Langen, David Meyer, Rachel Powell and John Kaufman. My Brother Tom Cook (Samo 79) lives in Visalia CA with his wife and two boys. My sister Maria Cook (Samo 82) and mother still live in Santa Monica. And although most of my past girlfriends might not share this view, life has been pretty damn good. Long live the Bird Man and Bay City Import’s!
Sometimes you just gotta go where the money is! Still miss Santa Monica.

Wife Cathy and three beautiful sons. Second career: Oracle database designer. Still a Viking fan !
I am a Tibetan Buddhist monk (14 years) who also is managing director in a Wall Street software company. I travel extensively in Asia and work to reform international wholesale finance through software engineering.
After finishing Samohi, I finished Cal state, Northridge, with a degree is Chemistry and later went to the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. I finished my Anesthesiology residency and now live in Northern California. I would like to get in contact with my old high school friends in the soccer club and the persian club.
Except for a couple of years studying in Canada, have stayed west of the 405 since Samohi. Currently a visual effects director for feature films.

After 15 years in Britain, returned to the US with my Scottish husband and daughter (now nearly 6) in 1998 - we're now based in Maryland. I'm a professional opera singer and divide my time between singing, teaching voice, and spending time with our daughter.
I'm still here!!!
ROMEO, MI 48065
Moved from Santa Monica in 1978 after spending my entire life there. Didnt quite get to Graduate from Samohi, but wished I could have but Graduated from Romeo High, in Romeo Michigan where my family moved to. Quite a bummer in retrospect!! Great memories from Lincoln Jr High. Would love to talk to some old friends if ya remember me. Now live in Beautiful, Sunny Florida, reminds me of old Santa Monica. I stay here during the Fall, Winter and Spring and also have a home in Romeo Michigan during the Summer. I own an Insurance Agency in both Cities. We specialize in Auto, Home and Commercial Insurance.

Married for 15 years to Vivienett, (who graduated from St Monica's, but I don't hold that against her). Have a daughter, Alexsi who was born on 12/25/2004. Still work in Santa Monica for US Bank - Private Client Group (but soon moving to the large US Bank Tower in downtown LA - Sept '06). Still keep in touch with Leonard Bangs another '80 grad who lives in San Diego.
After graduating from UC Santa Cruz I came back to L.A. and then went to law school in San Diego. I'm now working as an attorney with the Superior Court in Orange County.
I graduated from Cal Arts with a BFA in music composition in 1985. I worked as a musician then worked almost ten years with the AIDS Project Los Angeles doing human resources work. In 1995 I started seminary, graduated in 1998 with a Masters of Divinity and have been working as a minister with Unitarian Universalist congregations in Glendale and Santa Clarita ever since. I live with my partner and two dogs in Burbank
I actually never formally graduated from samo, took the GED, got dipolma, and moved out on my own at 17. After working in various feilds, construction for 14 years even, I decided I'd better get serious so I just got my AA degree and start at UCLA in Fall '05. After purusing this site for familiar names I only found a handful but if my name rings a bell feel free to write, it'd be real fun to touch base with anyone from the old days. The only one I've been in contact with is Cris Garvin, my old pal from back in those school days. Cheers, Cynthia P.S. you might remember me as Cindy.
Santa Monica CA 90402
Got my AA (gen Ed.)@ SMC, got married ('83)& moved to So.Dak (husband was in Air Force. Moved back to SM in '87, worked in Administration for The Samuel Goldwyn Co.for not quite 10 years. Had my beautiful daughter, Christina (almost 16) in '88, divorced in '91. Went back to school at CSUN for my BA in Speech/Language Pathology, and have worked in the field of Early Intervention for Autistic & Special needs Children ever since. Most of my free time is spent schlepping my daughter to the ice rink every morning before dawn, and attending Figure skating competitions to watch her skate. I'd love to hear from any of you out there! Please e-mail me! If I can get the computer away from my daughter, I'll even try to respond! =P
It was great to see so many of you at the twenty year reunion. My wife, Sandy Casci (Samohi class of '81) and I had lots of fun matching names with faces. We have enjoyed the opportunity to travel the past few years... Spain, France, Germany, North Africa, and a couple of trips to Hawaii. It's more clear now then ever that the only reason to work is to afford the vacations. Four years ago we moved from a 1800 sq.ft. house in the valley to a new, 3500 sq.ft. in Orange Co. and have been busy ever since. We had more rooms then furniture, but even the landscaping is finally finished (for now). I've been working in aerospace for the last fifteen years, flight testing and production of aircraft and more recently spacecraft. Interesting work, but projects you can't or could'nt talk about. Sandy has been an executive in the telecommunications industry for ten years now and our daughter continues to be our pride and mostly joy. To say twenty years has passed quickly is at the lea! ! st an understatement, but with a little luck we'll see you again in ten years.
I am married. I have a 13 year old son. We own our home in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles. We have 2 cats and a dog. I am a labor union organizer. We represent hotel workers, restaurant workers and laundry workers. Anybody who would like to drop me a line, please don't hesitate, I would love to hear from you!

Apparently this site's been up for years before I found it. It's really cool! Like: Would Susan Crawford become a violist or a lawyer? Look, she reports that she's both! And then right after that: Mike Crommie's a physics professor at Berkeley! My favorites are: Glenn Gardner is a Tibetan Buddhist monk *and* works on Wall Street! and Gary Kiser's a pro jazz tuba player in France! Hard to match that. I've lived in Seattle for 20 years, since graduating from Brown. I was originally lured here by Microsoft where I worked on Windows 1.0. (When they heard that I went to Samohi, I was immediately recruited to be on the company volleyball team! Not-so-great in SM is still great kicks most places.) I left Microsoft and did Windows contract work at many other companies, eventually starting and closing my own entertainment software business. Finally, I joined a startup in Seattle that was later acquired by Microsoft in late 2000, so I'm back where I started. I'm currently working on the next generation of eDocuments technology. I've worked in document authoring/publishing tools for 8 years. Married, no kids, two really good cats. 100-year-old Victorian house. President-emeritus of Seattle's Jewish Renewal congregation. I don't get to Santa Monica nearly often enough.
Update 2007: Job move. I've been a business lead at Amazon.com since late 2004, in the Social Computing group!
Used my BS in Math/Comp Sci from UCLA for a little more than 5 years before moving to France with my tuba. I am now a pro jazz tuba play if you can believe it. Life is good in France, yet, I do miss the California weather. I have two wonderful little girls who I bring back Stateside to visit family whenever I can afford it.
I live and work in Tijuana, have a fabulous wife and 2 sons and life is good.
I've been married to Mark Mahoney (class of 77) going on 21 years. We have a sweet little honey of a girl named Mia who's 4 and we live in Topanga CA. I work in film production. Feel free to email me. I drive past SAMO when I go to my office on Main St. Most people I work with are shocked to meet a real "native" of Dogtown. I guess after the movie we're a household name? I don't FEEL 45! Do you?
Hey, Vikings of 1980 - Where are you? How are you? Are we going to have a 30th reunion? I sure hope so. Wow, we're getting old! Hehehe I hope to hear from someone soon.
Married. Two children. Living, hiking, biking, and skiing in Colorado.
I'd love to meet up with some Alums! I'm a mom of 2 adult(ish) boys, a mortgage loan officer (hanging on!), president of the Topanga Community Club non-profit (planning Topanga Days Country Fair!), divorced, slacker-tri-athelete, wanna be designer, occasional surfer, all the time dancer, who celebrates anything possible as often as possible.

Let's see: I'm still single, bought a townhome in Huntington Beach and work for a high-profile sports agent, specializing in baseball. After 15 years as a sports writer at The Outlook (you do remember The Outlook?) and five years at Fox Sports Net, I made the switch to the business side of sports in 2001. I enjoy it. I made a lot of friends at Santa Monica High during my time as a sports writer, and I apologize for losing contact with so many of them. I still proudly wear my tattered Samohi baseball T-shirts to the gym. Go Vikings!
Parker, CO 80134
Greetings! I can't believe its almost 30-years since going to Samohi. After ditching about half of my senior year and barely graduating I put my act together and went on to higher education. Spent almost 15 years working in the psych dept. @ UCLA learning a highly specialized treatment for young children with Autism (thanks dad). I opened an agency in Las Vegas in 2005 and made the move to "sin city." We have a great staff, and thanks to everyones help, we have grown very quickly and serve children across the states and in Mexico. I'm away from family in Malibu, but the Vegas community has embraced our agency and the state has made great progress helping children with special considerations. I have two state appointments and am a board member of the Autism Coalition of Nevada all of which fight for children's rights to effective treatment and education. I hope to see some old friends in 2010. My best...

Since I graduated from SAMO, I went to UCLA, graduated in Mechanical Engineering, and have been fortunate enough to work for major corporations in Southern California. I know live in Alta Loma,(San Bernardino Area), it is nice and new, but far from the ocean. I miss living next to the beach, but I can't complain. Life is good. I am single, no kids, never married, and work a lot. I am fortunate to be financially stable, and am starting to do more fun stuff in life. Life really is too short to spend it focusing only on work. If you are in the area, email me, and let's get toghther to chat. :-)

I still have many good friends from Samohi, and frequently run into fellow Vikings through work and mutual friends. Send me an email and let's catch up.
I am an easy going person currently living in Santa Monica.
I've been married for 18 years to my college sweetie, Bart (a music teacher) and have two great kids, Sarah (13) and Alex (9). We live in a great beach community (Carpinteria) that reminds me of growing up in Malibu. I've been married to another freelance musician, Gene Burkert, for 10 years in June. We lived and worked in the Los Angeles area until deciding to relocate to the Bay area last year. I love my career playing Symphony, Opera, Ballet, and Broadway Shows, maintaining my private flute studio, and having the time and flexibility to be home with my kids too!
I'm currently living in Santa Monica. I'm a graphic artist, and designer. I work for a major toy manufacturer. I have a son named Max who will be 16 next year (2002). I love to play ice hockey, and captain a team in a local Southern California hockey League.
I am now working for Today's Staffing. Not much is new since I last posted information.
After bouncing around the state a bit, surviving several setbacks (starter marriage, layoffs, and the usual garbage associated with getting older), I have returned to La Asylum (commonly known as Los Angeles) and am currently self employed. Still in touch with some of my classmates and would like to hear from some of the alumni who I've lost track of over the years.

I took the long route to adulthood, but have more or less arrived. Stanford graduated me in 1992 (yes, I was almost 30), and I found my way into medical device marketing here in Orange County, where I've lived since graduation (Mom is still on 19th street in SM, so I'm up there all the time). Married David, a most wonderful man, 8/8/98, and we have two gorgeous boys, Christopher Dulaney and Ted Everett, who will be three and one, respectively, in June 2004. I've been an at-home mom since Chris was born, but am now helping my hubby with our new business designing integrated operating rooms. Our oldest is in college and the other two keep us very busy at home. I have been lucky to be able to work at home as a medical billing specialist. We also have a video production company, Cyclevision, for on board systems as well as custom motorsport videos. I am also a JR Girl Scout leader in my "spare time". Hoping to soon get back into Raptor rehab which has always been one of my biggest passions, I just need to get my husband busy on building a new flight cage for me.Regards to ALL !!!!

I am still here in Moreno Valley Ca with my family. My sister Bernadette just passed away in Sept 2007. You know, I've never been to a Reunion yet and I don't even know why. When is the next one? I never see anything for 1980. It's time for 1980 to step up. Don't you think? If you remember me, it would be nice to hear from some old classmates. Feel free to reach me at either email address. The other one would be deborahy1@verizon.net
