Hello!!! It's fun to see all the familiar names on this site. As you can tell, I didn't venture too far from Santa Monica. I went to school at UCSB and now live in the South Bay. After many years in Sales/Marketing in the Hotel Industry, I started my own event planning business 8 years ago. I was married, but am now divorced with no children. I still keep in touch with quite a few lifelong friends from our class - and look forward to the reunion! |

Oh, my gosh! This website is like looking in a yearbook -- 20 or so years later! How cool is that?
I'm here in Malibu with my husband Kim and my two children, Brian 16 and Catherine 14. I think Kim and I have been married forever but I’m not sure. I think I lost track of time. We are all having a great time just doing stuff. Kim works locally in construction and he plays a LOT of tennis and beach volleyball. I type dialogue continuity for Paramount and work at.... get this.... Point Dume Elementary as an aide in the 4th grade. It's true, I'll never grow up. Someone has got to teach kids the art of goofing off!
My son Brian enjoys doing anything -- as long as there is a good chance someone is going to get hurt. I think it’s all about those X Games on TV. And yes, he's playing football at Malibu High. I love watching the kids play -- but football is SO not my sport!
Catherine plays competitive soccer and she loves it. She plays for the Eagles in Camarillo and by now we know the location of every elementary and middle school soccer field in California. Yes, what a gift!
Glad to read everyone is enjoying themselves! |

Time flies! After graduating from Cal Poly SLO in 1980 I met my husband while working with Arabians in the Santa Ynez valley. He was originally from the mid-west, had gone to Westmont in Santa Barbara, was a banker & had paint horses. We were married in 1981 & moved to Minnesota that fall, where he had horse property.
We still breed & train paint show horses. Ten years ago we moved to 40 acres on a beautiful lake in rural southwest MN. We also run a bed & breakfast here. Have two fantastic kids, a boy & a girl, ages 16 and 14 (in 1999)

After moving to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 1980 - where I got married and had the first of our three daughter, I've actualized my dream of living in Colorado. I have a great business partner, we have a counseling center (I'm a marriage & family therapist)with three offices. You would think that I'd had enough of school but I am currently in a PhD program doing my dissertation on "Transformational Partnerships". The girls are all playing competitive soccer and riding horses and my husband is on his way to being a doctor of Chinese medicine (even if he's not Chinese). My consulting business (Aha!) will conduct it's first horsemanship/partnership training this coming summer - it's a great program focused on building
relationships, both two and four legged. Keep in touch.

Although I live in the Midwest, I keep a wet suit hanging in my folk’s Malibu beach house and try to get back to California at least two or three times a year. I own a company that manufactures various RF communications components in the western Chicago suburbs. In California my most visible products are the radio antennas used on the Highway patrol, LA County Sheriff and U.S. Border patrol vehicles. I own and fly my own plane and still try to keep in shape with kayaking and bicycling. You may remember my brother Dan (class of 77) has a law firm in Santa Monica and can be found at cislo.com I always enjoying hearing from old friends.

Hi fellow Samohi Vikings! I've been an investigative journalist, based in Los Angeles, since the 80s. I still live in our beloved town, Santa Monica. I've written extensively for numerous local, national and international publications. The local publications include Los Angeles magazine and the LA and OC Weeklies. If you're interested in some of the things I've scribed, check out www.laweekly.com and put "Michael Collins" into the 'search box' and all my recent stuff, for that publication, pops up.
Though I write about all sorts of things, I've been keen on environmental issues for the last few years. To wit, if any of my Samohi alums have some terrific tips to impart to me, fantastic!
Personally: I'm single, no kids and love to inline skate when deadlines don't prohibit it. I am a semi-professional inline skater and have competed around the country and world.
Comes a time when an old Viking must reach out to his fellow classmates/lovers/trouble-makers. Now is the time. I hope to hear from any of you who wish to share a laugh and our mutual wonderful time we spent at ol' Samohi.

Hi everyone! Over 30 years now... I don't know what to think. My intention with presenting myself is to find information. I am looking for any classmates who took surfing class in those years with Coach Kusserow. I could probably find all of you just by face in the photo annuals, but those are lost to me now. I am currently writing a book on those days on the beach before the death of POP pier. If you would like to share your stories or even just some insights and feelings, send me an email- I will welcome you. |

After Samohi, I graduated from Cal Poly SLO and went into the US Army as a Communications Officer for the next 12 years. I traveled the world extensively (twice stationed in Germany, unfortunately for which my two years of Samohi Spanish did not help me very much) and as such, was not able to attend any of the reunions. After Desert Storm, I left the Army and returned to the Southland with a wife and two boys. I now reside in Burbank with my two boys (22 & 20) but without the ex-wife as she decided to seek greener pastures. I worked for 10 years at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California as a senior administrative analyst before moving on to my current position as a financial analyst for a designer jean manufacturer in Commerce. For fun, my boys and I can occasionally be found on Sundays at the Los Angeles Live Steamers in Griffith Park, riding at the controls of our 1/8th scale train engine and hauling the public or working with the boys as they practice for ! various Special Olympics events. I am also involved in several community organizations (Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis, and Burbank Tournament of Roses Association) that keep me busy. Look forward to hearing from others who remember me. |

A few updates since my last entry here: Finally finished my Master's degree in Finance. Still working as a paralegal but now in financial services litigation (which is kind of a hot topic these days). My biggest news is Denisen and I just had our second daughter, named Abigail Eileen. Katherine Grace is now four and is handling the new addition quite well. Still enjoying living in the Bay Area with our house in the suburbs. Still writing SciFi, but not actively seeking publication at this point. More than anything, I'm enjoying being a dad, something I never even considered back in the day when I hung out with you folks at SaMo. Still hoping to see you all at the reunion. Till then, and if not, best wishes to all. |

Enjoyed 4 years as a school bus driver, have driven tour coach all over the U.S. And now am working at DFW International Airport, driving for the Rental Car Agencies. So if you ever fly in and rent a car, take a close look at your driver, it may be me! I may be 45, but feel so young (except when the knee's start aching, hehehe) If you are in the area, please feel free to drop me an email, the easiest way to get a hold of me. |

My name is Claudia HEATH (Brocki). I met Rex Brocki at SAMOHI (also class of '75). We married in 1976, and had a lovely daughter. We maundered through the years and ended up here on Whidbey Island in northwest Washington state. Rex is a Real Estate developer and builds low income housing. I am a Real Estate Broker, but I am taking a hiatus to write another novel, some short stories, and a play.
I am looking for several students(Shelly Voshell -class of 76), and Connie Dalton (did not attend SAMOHI, but was an SM native). I am also very anxious to contact the following faculty members: Miss Rollins and Dan Morrison. My uncle is Brian Keith, and as you probably know, we lost him the summer of 1997, so I would like to hear from anyone who liked his work. Thanks a lot, and as Bob Hope would say: "Thanks for the memories."

1975-1998: "Character Building". (Isn't that what you call it when stuff doesn't go your way?)
1999-2000: Met and married an AWESOME woman of God. (We are a perfect match: mutually boring!) Plans to adopt a child continue (which she began before we met).
2002: Relocate to central Washington. Who'da thunkit? Surrounded by orchards on all four sides. We get hot, we get snow, we get bugs. But there's nothing we don't like about it up here. (Never thought I'd leave So Cal.) Not only that, sister Laura (class of '77) and her family and our dad all moved up here at the same time!
2004: Spent several weeks in January and February in SIBERIA (duh!) meeting and adopting TWO really cool cats named (Joshua)Dmitry (2 1/2) and (Peter)Sergei (13 mo). Most folks raise kids the "traditional" way: get 'em when you're young. But no, we got 'em now that we're OLD. Wouldn't trade it! Hope to visit Southern California later in the year, but don't know if we can be there in August.

Happily married for seven years, Patti and I have a three year old son in addition to a 15 y.o. son from Patti's previous marriage. We live in Bend, Oregon, a nice high-desert ski town in the shadow of Mt. Bachelor. After high school, I went to Humboldt State University and the Colorado School of Mines (Mining Engineering) and worked in precious metals (mining, refining, brokering, banking), computer programming (burned out, too tedious) and then back to banking, except this time dealing in banking securities transactions. We're also involved in property development in the Bend area. I've worked from home for the last 16 years and very much enjoy it. After flying as a private pilot since 1984, I earned my commercial pilots license in 1998 and for the last several years I've been a pinch-hitter corporate pilot for a local cellular company. After twenty years, I still find aviation to be challenging and deeply rewarding. Despite my dislike as a teenager of learning new things (sound familiar anyone?), I find myself constantly searching for new and challenging business and personal pursuits. It's an addiction...

I just discovered this site! How great to hear how everyone is these days. It'll be 30 years since graduating coming up in 2005! I've been divorced for 10 years, & have two fantastic kids! My son, Tyler, is 17,(a senior now) & my daughter, Kayla, is 14 (a 9th grader). They are both on the swim team at their High School & my son also has his own punk rock band, called "A Tragic Hero". He plays bass. (I think you can check out their band at myspace.com). We've lived in the Bay area for 24 years now. San Francisco for 4 years in San Jose now for the last 20 years. In 1981 I got my degree in Science & Nursing from San Diego State University as well as becoming a registered nurse. Still good friends with a couple people from our class in High School; Chris Smith and Mark Egbert mostly. For those of you who knew my little sister, Tami, We were like best friends our whole lives. Vert sadly, Tami passed away in 2001. (She was only 42 years old). I miss her so very much!!! She moved to ! Humboldt,(Arcata, CA), in 1976 and never left there. She loved the Redwoods! She graduated from Humboldt State in 1980. We all had a "Celebration of Tami's Life and a goodbye" for Tami on her birthday, the year that she died. In addition to all of her Humboldt County friends, the day also brought together some great old friends from Samohi: Mark Egbert, Chris Smith, Priscilla Durso & Beba Becerra, (We all scattered her ashes in the Ocean). It was a very emotional experience for us all and one that none of us will ever forget. I am looking forward to coming to the 30 year Reunion. I've not been to any of the High School reunions so far, so this should be fun. Would love to hear from anyone I knew back in the days...(See my e-mail address). Until then...Take Care.. May Peace & Love abound for all... |

Here I am living the typical suburban life in Encino (couldn't afford a house in Santa Monica). Never thought I'd be a "Valley Girl". Married for almost 10 years and have a son, Alex, 8 and a daughter, Cia Viana, 5. I quit Verizon after 23 years to be a stay-at-home mom and run my Mary Kay business in between school field trips, Boy Scouts, piano, swim and roller skating lessons. I never thought I'd enjoy this kind of life but I do. Still love to hear from anyone who remembers me from SAMOHI even though I made it a point to be there as little as possible. Anyone making sure their kids don't do the same things you did too? |

After a 25 year "engagement", I finally married the woman of my dreams! Alas and alack, I was engaged to Joscelyn Curtis (a Culver City High grad) while attending Santa Monica College. Suffice it to say, we were the right people at the wrong time back in 1978, and went different directions. Thanks to a Google search on her part, Joscelyn and I were reunited 25 years later and were married in December of 2003. We are now the happy "newlyweds" with an instant blended family of 5 children and, (gulp), a grandson. Guess I learned to never say never, and to keep my dreams alive. Hoping the same comes true for all you romantics out there!

After graduating from Samohi, I attended UCLA, where I eventually earned a BS in Biology and a PhD in Molecular Biology. Spent a few years doing research at Cal Berkeley, before starting my own research group at the University of Missouri. I love the Midwest (!), but I also have many fond memories of Santa Monica: a great place to grow up! |

I would have graduated in 1975..however, ended up leaving in 1974. I also attended Lincoln Jr. High. I would doubt that anyone would remember me as I was a major wall flower. But, you just never know. I have four...count um' four kids ages 24 to 11...I would love to hear from those of you out there that remember as time passes way to quickly. |

Hello everyone. I've been married to Rivka Widerman and living in New York City (Manhattan) for the past 16 years. I'm starting out in a new profession: landscape architecture. Rivka is a writer, professional storyteller and reviews children's books. I heard there might be a reunion in 2005. Any truth in it?? Drop a line. |

How exciting to step back in time and see so many familiar names. I have been married for a long, long, long time to Ed Buckner who graduated from Venice High in 1975. We now live in Northern Cal, which before 1990, I never thought existed. My husband is a Systems Architect, and I have been in the Marketing field for sometime. I am currently working at the University of Davis. We have one son name David, who is in a signed rock band called PAPA ROACH. Your children may have caught them in concert or on the Jay Leno Show recently. He is married to Mia Tyler (daughter of Steven Tyler of Aerosmith & Liv Tyler sister). I at times do have business to attend to in So.Cal, maybe I can catch some of you at my next visit! I surely would like to hear from you! So email me... |

So there IS going to be a reunion! Thirty years...sheesh. How'd THAT happen?!? Been living in AZ since '88 after moving here from the central coast. (Still miss the ocean but there's something about this desert!) CranioSacral Therapist since '92. Father of 4 great chilluns-three girls and a boy, single and on great terms with their moms. Much water under the bridge...too much to list here...and loving life. While in New Zealand in November I made an appointment with an immigration attorney to start the process of obtaining my residency there. Totally random choice off the web and guess what...he was a student of Samohi and graduated in '76! Small world indeed! Got me interested in sussing out the yearbook and seeing if I recognized his 29 year old picture. Cheers. |

We have been semi-retired and traveling since early spring 2000. We now enjoy seeking partime employment as a "Camphosts" couple in campgrounds and National Parks in states of interest. A GREAT lifestyle choice! See the Escapees.com link for details on full-time RVing services.

I graduated in 75 and promptly left to be a River Rafting Guide in Arizona and Alaska. I lived in Alaska (Anchorage) from 1977 to 1980, and then returned to SoCal to go to school. My dad encouraged me to go to Technical School, so I entered the arena of hardware repair and sales, where I stayed til 1985, when I was married to a Co-Worker, and an Engineer (I have always understood them.... as sick as that may be!!)
In 1988, my only son, Daniel was born. In 1990, looking for the 'better life', we moved to Spokane, Washington. My husband was a Project Manager for a laptop manufacturing company, and I was a stay-at-home-Mom. That job was unceremoniously eliminated October of 1992, and my father passed away in March of 1993. June of '93 I returned to OC to repair and maintain my dad's home and have been here ever since.
Life is basically good in Republican RV Land. I play hockey, tennis, am divorced since 1995, love my rock and roll, and am a faithful employee of a large multi-national corporation with a terrible environmental record...... ahhhhhh, where did my high-minded principles go??
Does anyone know how to contact any of the following people?:
Steven Kiser, Mike Fenton, Ben Chesne, Todd, Todd, what was his last name (he went to SMASH too), Karen Kiser, Jeff Hickey, or Gary Kiser? I suppose everyone knows how to contact Michael Penn, but I am not sure he would remember us little folks..........
cya! ROCK ON!! |
